A busy week, we had club demonstrations being delivered, wood being collected, batch production, gift making, turning plastic fence posts and a sneak preview of the pieces being made for an upcoming exhibition ....what a busy lot. Read on for more....
Andrew Hall has been out on the road to deliver a club demo, he managed to squeeze one inbetween all the holidays! Andrew has also been out in the workshop trying out some of the Rainbow waxes from Chestnut....very nice indeed.
Burnsy has been out collecting some timber from a local source - the garden of a large house which is being renovated nearby. Lots of unusual lumps of wood have been obtained... looks like some turning may be about to happen...if he can tear himself away from the laser that is !
Daniel Stewart has been out in the workshop again, this time a lidded vessel and some scoops made after some inspiration from Richard Raffan. Very nice work.
Martin Stacey sent over some photos of a recent work, the shape of a lady wearing a hat. The piece is a gift and it's sure to be a hit with whoever receives it. Nice work as always !!
Phil Irons has been busy out in the workshop preparing pieces for the Worshipful Company of Turners show and getting ready for the Irish Guild of Woodturners symposium. We got a detailed look at a hollow form which features colouring and carving...lovely piece of work. We also got a look at some spoons which had been turned from a recycled plastic fence post...very unusual but apparently very hard on the tools edges.
Richard Dickson joined us and sent in some photos of a recent hollow form with some very attractive spalting and figure. Looking forward to seeing more of the same!!
