These Monday things seem to be habit forming, though it is noticeable that a number of folks are "hiding" in the background, you know who you are ..... so why not have something to hand to share on Monday evening....it's either that or Pat will start picking at random!! Anyway last week we had a large amount of work shared and we had a couple of new visitors, hopefully we didn't scare them off altogether...
Here is a brief run down on the contributions we had in the session and if I have missed anyone out then I apologise and just let me know:
Bill Mooney gave everyone a view of a some more of his work. This time Bill presented some photos of a number of gavels and sounding blocks he had made in a variety of timbers.
Andrew Hall gave us some photos of a furniture project and a technical project in the shape of a dolls house. The box said for ages three years and older...and of course as we all know that means only one thing....it's going to take ages. Janet is very happy and is now decorating and furnishing so we can look forward to an update!
Len Shield took some time away from the lathe and fell victim to the Christmas bug (bah humbug) and has been out in the workshop producing some really festive work though I'd have to say that the chocolate would never survive if it was me!
Andrew Maxwell joined us briefly to show us some of his recent work, some bowls and some joint work to make pin cushions...like most of us Andrew knows his limits and left the textile work well alone. Andrew has also been and caught the Powertext bug....I can see we are going to need a "sticky stuff" self help group shortly.
Kevin McAlister (AKA Mr Powertex) shared some photos of yet more work from McAlister studios, this time the work also features some Pyrography by Kevin's wife. What a talented bunch!!
Cameron McAlister: Just to prove how talented the whole family are Cameron has been out in his dad's workshop and joined in with the creativity to produce this lovely festive platter.
Phil Irons sent over some photos of a "square natural edge platter" in Chestnut which had been coloured to enhance the grain and patterns within what otherwise might have been a fairly pale piece of timber.
Martin Stacey is another of our multi talented members and is always busy. Martin sent over a selection of photos of his work including a lovely set of cuff links.
Jim French sent over some photos of his Japanese Kokeshi doll inspired boxes, some wide mouth frogs and a Yew vessel which underwent an unscheduled design change .... something which we are all familliar with .... Jim will no doubt recover it and produce something stunning as usual.
Photos are below, as usual click on the little image to see a bigger version:
