Well it looks like one of our number has actually lost control of his workspace, so we can look forward to some photos of a workshop build ....

Graham Brooks: Woodturning

Graham Brooks shared some photos of this rather lovely piece, several different timbers were used to produce this lovely piece. Graham has submitted the piece to a competition run by the AWGB...best of luck Graham!

Ken Bryden: WoodturningKen Bryden has been attending more virtual demonstrations by Pat Carroll, Andrew Hall and others. Ken has produced a rather novel twist on the recent Andrew Hall demonstration showing how he turns a small hat. In this case Ken has made a small hat that doubles as a coin holder for £2 coins...handy for those of us allowed to handle such large sums.....

Kevin McAlister: WoodturningKevin McAlister has been allowed to use Cameron's workshop for a little while...not on a permanent basis though!! Kevin shared some photos of his latest work, a platter decorated with butterflies using Jo Sonja paints. Very nice !!

Len Shield: WoodturningLen Shield is another one of our number who is sharing his workspace. Len's grandaughter has had the pyrography tools out to decorate a few spalted beech bowls turned by Len. Very nice!!

Margaret Garrard: WoodturningMargaret Garrard sent over some photos of a piece she has been working on which was causing some issues in terms of getting a colour applied to it. The piece is in Cedar (we think) and the issue was to do with some yellowing which was showing through, most likely caused by natural resins in the timber. There was plenty of discussion on potential solutions to the problem. However it seemed generally agreed that the piece was stunning regardless of the resin issues.

Pat Carroll was missing in action this week but should be back with us next time when I understand he has a special treat for us all in the shape of a new workshop accessory....and it's musical.......

As always we had several contributions from others but the session is not recorded so I don't have screen shots....if you showed something then please do send over some photos, you can do it from your mobile phone.... it's not that hard, just ask a teenager for help!!
