Right then, another busy evening with lots of work on show. A special mention goes to Bill whose contribution was, as always, outstanding. Anyway on with the report.
Bill Mooney sent in some photos of a box in the shape of an apple, the stalk is saved from a pear and dried, on the underside is a clove. A couple of great tips! Bill also showed us some table legs made on a planer and gave some pointers on the use of the planer to create them.
Ken Bryden attended the second part of a demo by the same Australian bloke, apparently this time he didn't leave stuff out of the demo! The result is a lovely coloured hollow form with a gloss finish. As always the piece is up to Ken's high standard.
Cameron McAlister has been out in his workshop and had the paints out this time we have a Cosmic Clouds platter (inspired by Mr Gary Lowe) and a very nice centrifugal piece which pretty much sold straight off the lathe. Stunning pieces.
Kevin McAlister sent over some photos of a few pieces he has been working on in wet timber harvested local to where he lives. It was very nice of Cameron to allow his dad to use the workshop but I do hope that Kevin has tidied away all of those messy wet shavings and cleaned down the lathe....if not then Cameron might not allow him to use the workshop again!!
Len Shield sent over some photos of a couple of pieces he has recently completed. First is a box in the shape of a pear, Len says it has moved a little ..... it's still a vey nice piece! Second piece was something inspired by Theo the Woodturner who did a session recently where he turned a seal with a ball to demonstrate multi-axis turning. Great to see these lovely pieces.
As always we had several contributions from others but the session is not recorded so I don't have screen shots....if you showed something then please do send over some photos, you can do it from your mobile phone.... it's not that hard, just ask a teenager for help!!
Don't forget you can find the previous Monday Session Reports on the website just click here. You can also look at the images for each week by clicking here and look at the images for each contributor by clicking here.
Once again thanks to all of you for making these evenings such a success, if nobody contributed then none of these evenings could happen. Keep on making and, most important of all, keep on sharing!
