Another week loaded with photos, this week however we moved from woodturning to machinery and orchids!!
Read on for more details:
John Brown (Dumfries) following on from the wigstand photos sent in by John Brown (Penn) we have another wigstand, this time made for a neighbour. It turns out that John isn't the only member of our group to be making these items. Brian Conchie is also making them for donation to a well known cancer charity. So for plans or any other information please contact Brian and get making wig stands!
Len Shield sent over some photos of a couple of projects. One is a green man painted onto a bowl in spalted beech. The other is a hollow form which has been modified into a rather striking fish...not sure of the species. Len has taken advantage of the knot in the wood as an eye then added fins made from flattened out 22mm copper pipe...very inventive.
Graham Brooks sent over photos of a couple of pieces, one which was a challenge set by another group member. The challenge was a bowl within a bowl but with another bowl inside of that. I think it's safe to say that Graham has met and exceeded the challenge....but then I don't think there was any doubt that he would !!
Colin Spencer hasn't been long in the group but of course that hasn't stopped Pat from going online and volunteering a photo of one of Colin's pieces. A very nice pentagonal bowl...looking forward to seeing more of Colin's work (no pressure).
Julian Cleak sent over some photos of a lathe for sale near him, he actually said he wasn't sure if anyone would be interested. I pointed out that it's a bunch of woodturners and the photos are of a large cast iron lathe.....enough said really !!
Mike Wilson sent over a couple of photos of pieces he had completed a little while ago. A platter and a bowl, the bowl was I believe part of an order for a couple of hundred bowls for a house builder....a production bowl turner now then!!
Pat Carroll as we all know is a quiet, shy, retiring member of our group.... Pat is well known also for his volunteering....more specifically his volunteering of other people to show their work. So Pat sent in some photos of Helen Bailey who gave a demonstration at Axminster tools showroom on Tyneside recently. So looking forward to the first IRD from Helen....which I believe is not too far off.
Patrick Lindsay didn't send in any photos of woodturning this week. Instead we got a photo of an orchid that Patrick has grown and which has now flowered. Some of you will not be aware of the fact that Patrick has been growing orchids for many years and has a collection of these fabulous plants. Looking forward to seeing more of these in future.
As always we had several contributions from others so, if you showed something, then please do send over some photos you can do it from your mobile phone.... it's not that hard, just ask a teenager for help!!
DON'T FORGET: YOU SHOULD SEND OVER YOUR PHOTOS FOR MONDAY EVENING RIGHT AWAY FOLKS!!
Don't forget you can find the previous Monday Session Reports on the website just click here. You can also look at the images for each week by clicking here and look at the images for each contributor by clicking here.
Once again thanks to all of you for making these evenings such a success, if nobody contributed then none of these evenings could happen. Keep on making and, most important of all, keep on sharing!
