In place of last weeks meeting we had a demonstration from a young (well he is compared to me!) French turner, Laurent Niclot. Laurent's demonstration topic was the miniature teapots which have become one of his signature pieces.
The demonstration seemed to go well and, based on the comments I have had, the demonstration was very well recieved. I have passed on our thanks to Laurent (and his assistant Kailee Bosch).
It's back to normal meetings this week so see you all on Monday evening and .....don't forget to send over the photos of your teapots!!
Here is a quick look at the IRD's coming up in the next seven days that we know about:

Gary Lowe: Trumkreisel
In this demo I will show you the steps that I use to make one of the “Trumkreisel” pieces.
Over the years these “grown up toys” have been a very popular product and can act very effectively as a canvas for a range of techniques, textures and colours.
We can make anything we need out of wood, we’ve got the tools! But often metal is a better choice for jigs, shop fixtures, and tools. I will show you techniques, using woodworking equipment that you already have, plus a few inexpensive new tools, that will open your eyes to working with steel, brass, and aluminum. Learn to successfully and accurately shape and drill metal in your wood shop. This session will be on drilling and tapping. Resources and a tool list will be provided.
