This week we begin with two big thank you's:
- Firstly to Steve Jones for taking some time out to pay us a little visit and I know that some of you really enjoyed that.
- Secondly to Pat Carroll for stepping in to host the meeting whilst your usual host was "swanning around" doing other things and of course Mr Carroll was instrumental in getting Steve to come along....I'm sure you can all vouch for Pat's powers of persuasion!!
Speaking of Pat's powers of persuasion here is a brief run down on the contributions we had in the session:
Bill
Mooney gave everyone a view of a couple of pieces of work. A reproduction of a wine bottle holder, originally the piece was in metal but of course Bill reproduced this in wood. Bill also treated us to some involuted turning in the form of a lamp base.

Ian Forster gave us some photos of some miniature turnings he has done, one of the images has a 20 pence piece in it to allow you to get the scale of the work...not sure my eyes work well enough for that...to say nothing of the shaky hands!
Len Shield (having regained control of his workshop from his grand daughter) has been watching Theo Haralampou doing demonstrations for Record Power and took up Theo's challenge to make one of his eight pointed stars...quite a brain bender but Len made it look easy!

Pat Carroll has received a new delivery to the workshop and has been busy putting it back to it's former glory. It is of course a Stubby lathe...not just any Stubby though, I'm sure many of the people reading this will be very familiar with this one as many of you will have used it when it stood in Andrew Hall's workshop. At any rate the various paint colours have been removed and it has been put back to its original black....welcome to the Stubby owners club Pat!

Ray Midgley shared some photos of some Christmas elves (I know it's not December yet - Bah, Humbug and all that) that are turned in a variety of woods. One of the little guys had a mishap and required some emergency repairs...obviously carried out on the National Elf service .....just put that one in to see if anyone is reading this!!
Photos are below, as usual click on the little image to see a bigger version:
