Lathes moving home, wood stores tidied, knife making, basket making...It's a wonder anyone finds any time to do some woodturning !! A busy Monday evening....
Arun has been on out having a tidy up of his wood store, he also prepared a whole bunch of blanks and then did a speed bowl turning challenge against the clock...I'm exhausted just thinking about it!
Gary Lowe wins the award for packing a large lathe into a small car as the VL 300 in the photo shows! More to come from Gary as he gets the VL300 re-assembled.
Jim Briggs sent over some photos from a damascus steel knife making course he went on following the photos of the same course sent in recently by Paul Howard. Woodturning, blacksmithing...it's all good!!
Kevin Purdy is a man of many talents. This week we were treat to some images of a basket he has been making, and very nice it is too!! Perhaps we should be thinking about a basketry IRD from Kevin??
Patrick Lindsay sent over some photos of some woodturning including some additional ones of a piece finished with his special gloss finish. Another IRD candidate !!
Phil Irons sent over some photos of a stunning piece of Juniper with vivid natural colours. Very unusual though there was some debate as to how permanent those colours might be.
Roger Hadley sent over a photo of a lovely bowl using the same Superior Danish Oil finish technique as Patrick to achieve a very high gloss finish. Very nice indeed.
As always we had several contributions from others so, if you showed something, then please do send over some photos you can do it from your mobile phone.... it's not that hard, just ask a teenager for help!!
DON'T FORGET: YOU SHOULD SEND OVER YOUR PHOTOS FOR MONDAY EVENING RIGHT AWAY FOLKS!!
Don't forget you can find the previous Monday Session Reports on the website just click here. You can also look at the images for each week by clicking here and look at the images for each contributor by clicking here.
Once again thanks to all of you for making these evenings such a success, if nobody contributed then none of these evenings could happen. Keep on making and, most important of all, keep on sharing!
