Lots of things going on this week, we have a Cryptex made from wood, the 3d printer being put to work, hollow forms, games, a wide mouth frog and a green trophy...read on for more details!!
Allan Joicey Following on from the 3d printed Cryptex last week Allan sent in some photos of a cryptex made a little while ago from a variety of woods plus some brass pins, very nice project.
Burnsy has been putting the 3d printer to work with a job that came in from a Clock Maker who had a timepiece in for repair and needed some parts making to replace some that had been lost. The parts were printed and the clock is now ticking once again !!
Graham Brooks sent over some photos of a few recent pieces of work. A lovely off centre bowl with the chameleon flake finish over a carved area, along with a couple of hollow forms which were done to allow Graham to experiment with a new tool - a Rolly Munro hollowing tool. The experiments would seem to have been a success with a couple of very nice hollow forms on show.
Kevin Purdy sent in some photographs of a couple of solitaire games he made. All done on the lathe and using the router for the holes for the marbles...a lot of patience on that one !!
Len Shield has been out getting in some practice with the Skew chisel. The results are pretty clear to see, a frog turned only with the skew and then some carved details added to complete the job. A really nice bit of work and likely to be a very popular item!
Martin Stacey sent in a photo of a piece of work he had completed before Christmas. The piece has now been hung on the wall in the house...very nice indeed!
Phil Irons sent in a photo of his local cricket club (look closely at the sign), we also got a look at an Ash tree that had come down along his regular dog walking path ... though recovering the wood may be a little tricky without Scuba gear. The Green Football trophy that Phil made last year is now headed back to the stadium ready for this years competition, nice to see a bit of work being used over and over again.
