A jam packed evening session with lots of work on show including a couple of smaller pieces from Mike and Arun. Lots of great work on show and lots of discussion, read on for more.
Andrew Hall sent over some photos of his recently refurbished bike. The bike is being used to tire out Bailey the (Red and White) Border Collie. It would appear that ten miles isn't quite enough to do the job and after a brief stop Bailey seems to be ready to go again....see the video below!!
Arun is now finished his college course and is able to get back to the workshop. He decided to make a start with a small project though he did admit to having to get some help lifting this one onto the lathe...it's going to need a big shelf to display that one!
Gary Lowe sent in a photo of a suspended hollow form he had completed recently. Apparently a first for Gary but hopefully not the last, as always a really lovely piece !
Graham Brooks sent over some photos of a double three cornered bowl completed recently. As always, very nice work !
Jim Briggs sent over a photo of an illuminated bauble he had made, never too early to start the Christmas production run !!
John Brown sent over some photos of a little delivery he had from Simon Hope...that's the inheritance spent then !! Looking forward to seeing some of the work being produced in the near future.
Len Shield sent over a photo and a video of a recent project. This one caused quite a stir and Len has undertaken to send us over some photos to show the sequence of how he managed to turn it...lots of people looking forward to that one !
Martin Stacey sent over a couple of photos, one of an amaryllis currently in flower and the other of a piece being made for his family. Great stuff.
Mike Wilson sent over some photos of a recent commission from the National Trust to make some large easter eggs out of timber from the Trust property. Mike mentioned that the blanks were quite large and difficult to get up onto the lathe....like many of us Mike is noticing that the wood seems to be getting heavier as we get older...funny thing that.
Phil Irons sent over a bunch of photos showing some hollow forms with natural edge exteriors and some detail on the making of gear knob for his VW Transporter...replaces the standard one with a nice bit of timber. The wood used was in fact a piece sold as a dog chew, a piece of something called Coffee Tree Root...lots of figure and interest. So when you're looking for a nice bit of timber don't forget to try the local pet shop !!
