Well, what a week this was. The work on show was breathtaking...the cooler weather seems to have agreed with everyone and the creativity seems to have gone off the scale...again! In amongst all of it we also found out that one of us has received an award, well deserved ... read on for more....
Allan Joicey sent in some photos of how he handles the cube in cube type of projects like the one shown last week by John Brown. Allan showed us the jig he developed and uses for these projects plus other projects involving cutting cubes on the bias. Fascinating stuff and lots of food for thought.
Andrew Hall having returned from holiday and caught up on the gardening has been back into the workshop to produce more garden ornaments in the shape of a pedestal bowl and some fairy toadstools....very nice indeed.
Arun Radysh Hassis is continuing with the large scale work. The three piece sculpture is coming together, it's going to look pretty spectacular when it's in the final outdoor setting. Arun is struggling for a name for the piece and asked for ideas...what about just keeping it simple....Tryptich 1
Burnsy is continuing on with the laser adventures, more products are coming out of the workshop! The spiral bowl seems to be a popular thing and some paint effects are now being added - thanks to Gary Lowe for the inspiration. An important delivery of roofing sheets to replace the failing felt shingles has been received and Arun came to stay over following his graduation and the receipt of an award from the college...Student of the Year no less..well done Arun !!
Gary Lowe sent over some photos of a recent project, showing us all how he tackles these projects step by step. Two lidded boxes and of course they have added texture and colour. Superb as always !!
Graham Brooks sent over some photos of recent projects including a really lovely suspended box piece. We also got a look at a platter, an offset bowl with chameleon paint effect and a three pointed piece...superb quality of work.
Len Shield sent in some photos of recent work, some really creative and imaginative work on display here!!
Martin Stacey sent in a selection of photos to show us what he is up to in the workshop. A money box shaped like a two pence piece has been occupying Martin along with a natural edge bowl and preparations to re-roof his workshop are also well in hand...definitely a summer project!
Mick Johns sent over some photos of a recent project completed, a round table with a central turned leg - all made by Mick in his workshop. We also got a real treat with some photos of a Davenport made some years back by Mick which used timber reclaimed from HMS Victory...utterly stunning piece of work!
Phil Irons sent in a photo of a piece recently completed...just look at the grain pattern on this thing...Wow!
