Well, a varied night with a mix of varied woodturning, gilding, laser cut acrylics, the popular mechanics small engine clinic and of course.....no Monday would be complete without a few Orchids !! Read on for more....
Arun has been off doing a range of things this summer but will hopefully be rejoining us on a regular basis. He sent over these images of a recent wall sculpture made on the RU with some Gold Leaf embelishments....nice to see him easing back into it with a small piece to start with.....
Burnsy was commissioned to make a template for a local quilter to use when cutting out fabric. The recipient was delighted with it .....so delighted that they passed on all of the information to their extensive network of quilt making friends....proving the old adage that: "No good deed goes unpunished" !! A sign is also under construction for the outside of the workshop....
Daniel Stewart seems to be continuing to attend and sent over some photos of a really nice pierced egg. The egg was turned in two parts to allow for the hollowing and is about the size of a real egg. Very nice indeed...
Len Shield sent over some photos of some recent work in the shape of a pipe made from Mahogany and Acrylic. The pipe is hollowed and drilled though perhaps not intended for use. Len put the bend into the acrylic using a little bit of heat. As always lovely work.
Nick Simpson sent in some photos of piece made from Monkey Puzzle. Nick took a round of the stem and then went through a number of chucking positions to get the branch nodes aligned to give this very dramatic piece. Lovely bit of work that shows the potential of this material.
Patrick Lindsay sent in some photos of a turned box in the shape of a pear, he's been making quite a few of these recently. We also got a look at a pretty substantial bowl and of course...an Orchid or two!!
Phil Irons sent in some photos of a very nice Urn completed recently. The Urn is in Burr Elm with a threaded lid made from Box and it's a stunner !!
Richard Dickson sent in some photos of a cremation urn he had made for his Father in Law. The piece has been put to use and really did look splendid...a very moving tribute. We also got an update on the lawnmower engine saga...still no joy but lots of suggestions....stay tuned for the next thrilling installment !!!
As always we had several contributions from others so, if you showed something, then please do send over some photos you can do it from your mobile phone.... it's not that hard, just ask a teenager for help!!
