What a busy lot !! Lots of projects on the go in the workshop and outdoors (making the most of the weather). Nice to see some faces returning after a summer break too. Read on for more....
Andrew Hall has been off doing a range of things this summer both in and out of the workshop. Andrew sent over some images of a recent project from some reclaimed timber and was able to give us his views on the Rutlands powered respirator he purchased recently - impressive bit of kit seems really good value for money !!
Burnsy was working outdoors this week with an engaging "krypton factor challenge" (you young folks can look that one up) in the form of a self assembly bike storage shed...apparently this was suppposed to take two hours according to the instructions. It took a little longer than that but apparently the manual wasn't very clear...yeah...right.
Gary Lowe has been out in the workshop and produced this really nice hollow form with colour and a carved "jigsaw" effect on the surface. The relief carving is at different depths and the pattern was done by eye/hand. Impressive bit of work!!
Graham Brooks sent over some images of some recent work including a box with a twist and some wig stands he had completed.
Len Shield sent over some photos of a recent piece he had made, a turned and carved hummingbird sipping nectar from a flower. A very impressive piece which generated a lot of interest and comments from all. Len also showed us a very clever scissor holder in the shape of a bird...well Christmas is coming...never too early to start on the gifts !!!
Martin Stacey sent in some photos of recent projects including a miniature goblet he made after seeing some made by a fellow club member at an event. Apparently the next challenge is to make one with a captive ring...looking forward to seeing that one Martin!!
Mike Wilson sent in some photos some recent projects including lidded boxes and a hollow form made in Ash which had some colour and wax applied to the exterior, very nice indeed !!
Patrick Lindsay sent in some photos of some recent work including a cabinet he had made some years ago and a rather lovely Burr Elm hollow form and a large burr elm bowl...stunning grain pattern and very special work.
As always we had several contributions from others so, if you showed something, then please do send over some photos you can do it from your mobile phone.... it's not that hard, just ask a teenager for help!!
