Lots of stuff going on again, woodwork restoration, miniature turning, anxiety pebbles, large bowls, mastering the skew and (of course) Orchids. We also had a photo of some Australian bloke in a skirt....well it takes all sorts. Read on for more.
Daniel Stewart has stepped away from the lathe temporarily to restore this rather lovely chest. It was in a bit of a sorry state but as you can see from the second image Daniel has done a splendid job in restoring it to it's former glory. Well done !!
Gary Lowe sent over some photos of his latest work, this one is carved and textured but also features a rim decoration made from natural Sisal string, another very nice innovative piece from Gary. See below for Gary's video.
Martin Stacey sent in some photos of his "little and large" pair of goblets. Very nice indeed...I think the miniature one with the captive ring should be due shortly.....no pressure you understand !!!
Mick Johns sent in a photo and a video (see below) to give some pointers on one of his favourite tools - The Skew. Mick gave us a great run down on this versatile but much maligned tool. The video is well worth a watch - see below.
Nick Simpson sent in some photos of some pebbles he turns regularly to help out with people suffering from anxiety and stress, particularly Veterans. The idea is that having these pebbles in their hands keeps them busy and makes it easier to talk and work out the issues they are struggling with. Nick showed us the wooden chuck jaws he made to produce these on the lathe. Well done !
Patrick Lindsay sent in some photos of some recent bowls (large as always !) and of course some of the Orchids currently in bloom.
Phil Irons sent in a photo of himself from some years back wearing a skirt at a family wedding (at least I think he said skirt) ...on the Island of Luing - lovely place.
