Andrew Hall reported back from his very successful demonstration day at Northumbria Woodturners, it would seem that a great day was had by all. We got a look at the set up Andrew used at the club and the items made during the day, one of which was a box inspired by a piece made by Tracey Owen. Great fun !!
Burnsy managed (finally!!) to get over to Ian Forster and collect the Simon Hope threading jig. Originally purchased to be used on the Stubby lathe once owned by Ian it has now been re-united with the Stubby which is currently under the stewardship of Burnsy.
Julian Cleak sent over some photographs of his drill press in response to an enquiry to the meeting by Jim Briggs. Jim was looking for a recommendation on a floor standing pillar drill and Julian responded with a recommendation to avoid one in particular. So whilst there was no single overwhelming positive recommendation its at least good to know one in particular to avoid.
Kevin Purdy sent in some photographs from Andrew's demonstration at Northumbria Woodturners, we also got a look at some boxes turned after the demonstration and directly inspired by the pieces that Andrew made on the day. Definitely a worthwhile day out then for all concerned !!
Len Shield sent over some more turned animals including a dog inspired by Kevin Purdy's photos from last week. The cat reminds me of those ceramic cats with the long necks that were common many years back....that's showing my age then.
Martin Stacey sent over some photos of a little gift he had made in return for the tools and timber he had been given when a workshop had been cleared out. Well done Martin, always nice for someone to be thanked with a hand made gift.
Mike Wilson sent over some photos of blanks for his doughnut bowls and then some additional photos of a large number of burrs imported by his late friend Arthur, apparently the one's on show were less than half of the total....nice!!
Phil Irons sent in some photos of the work in progress on the piece he was sent from the collection of the late Bill Luce. Looking interesting so far...can't wait to see it finished !!
