Well what a busy week, trips "down South", photo tutorials, 3d printing, spoons, end grain printing, a square natural edge bowl and a welcome return to some turning and Orchids from Patrick. Read on for more....
Andrew Hall whilst preparing for his regular slot at the Midlands Woodworking Show in Newark found time to send over a set of photos for Jim who was interested in how the Tracey Owen style box from last week as actually made. So over to you Jim....photos of the finished item please !!
Burnsy spent a bit of time working on some 3d printed items to make a re-usuable tape board for the Shaper Origin. The idea is create tape board with a rise and fall mechanism based on the MFT style bench top....more to follow. A lampshade was also prepared for a wedding gift and sent off to the happy couple...photos of the assembled shade to follow.
Gary Lowe sent over some photographs from his trip to Garden of England woodturners which is basically about as far South as you can go before you get wet feet. A jolly good time was had by all with a rather lovely flask and a one of Gary's signature "wobble boxes" being demonstrated.
Jim Briggs sent over some photos of his new purchase, a shiny new pillar drill...or as he calls it ..."drill press". The machine had to be raised to a suitable height for Mr Briggs but it certainly seems to be a very nice bit of kit....suitable for loads of projects.
John Brown has been having more fun with burrs supplied by Brian Conchie, we have the photos and the videos to prove it. Well done John, some really nice pieces on show with some really nice timber. Obviously Brian is saving his up to send through to us....
Len Shield has been having a go at the spoons demonstrated by Phil Irons during the IRD recently. The spoons are looking great! Len also sent over some photos of a character bud vase and some prints he'd had a go at...fantastic stuff.
Patrick Lindsay has been missing for a little while after sustaining a leg injury. Patrick sent over some photos of work in progress and of course we got our weekly fix of the beautiful Orchids that Patrick has in flower. Welcome back and maybe resist the urge to kick the gate open next time it sticks !!
Richard Dickson recovered from his trip up North...nobody mention rugby as he's got a bit of a complex about it....Richard sent over some photos of a really lovely square natural edge bowl in Oak...the medullary rays are spectacular. We also got another bowl and a spoon. Lovely work as always.
