Easter Monday saw us a little thin on the ground, however a good evening was had by all. Some very impressive seasonal pieces, a nut and bolt box and some photos from the recent TurnFest event down in Australia which lead on to a future demonstration topic !!! Read on for more...
Kevin Purdy sent in some photos of a few Easter eggs he had made. These have turned bases but the eggs themselves are actually duck eggs which have been pierced...some very delicate and patient work from Kevin. We also got a look at a recently completed Pagoda box...very nice indeed.
Paul Howard sent over some photos of a full scale M42 nut and bolt (plus washer) he had made...all of the dimensions are accurate and it works as a box. Very impressive indeed !!
Phil Irons sent over some photos from his recent trip to Turn Fest in Australia. Phil was working as a demonstrator at the event but still found a little time to take some photos. One that really stood out and caused a lot of discussion was some ring turning from Simon Begg in the form of an eagle head...really stunning work. Phil also tried to explain how a specific technique shown at the event worked...it was generally agreed (not by Phil however) that it would be best if he were to demonstrate this technique to the group on a Monday evening. Richard agreed to help with the camera work which means that he could also show us his methods of handling Pommel cuts...See what I did there guys ???
