This week we had all sorts of stuff going on, further Christmas preparation work, Raku pottery firings, sailing trips to the Outer Hebrides, tree felling, car repairs and some of us even found time for some woodturning....whatever next !!! Read on for more...
Burnsy has been doing more Christmas preparations (with lights this time - see the video), there has also been some experimentation with laser engraving on mirrors. This week also involved a trip out to get involved in some Raku firing..interesting stuff.
Gary Lowe has been out in the workshop making a collection of hollow forms. The forms are all textured, some with internal texture and colour has been added to some of the pieces. As always some lovely work on show tonight.
John Brown has been out and purchased a Woodcut Proforme hollowing tool, the hollower has been put straight to use ! So after some experimentation we can look forward to seeing some nice hollow forms in the near future !!!
Kevin Purdy has been getting back to doing some turning following his surgery, we got a look at some hollow forms and a couple of other recent pieces - very nice. Well done Kevin, good to know you're on the mend !!
Malcolm Ferguson sent in a couple of photographs from a recent trip aboard a friends yacht. The trip took Malcolm out to the Shiant Isles (click here for more information) and Malcolm was able to report that the seabird colonies are still present (though reduced due to the bird flu epidemic). Malcolm also spotted a super yacht moored near the islands.
Phil Irons has been out to supervise the removal of the Horse Chestnut tree with all of the burrs. Sadly the main trunk was so badly rotten that not much of it was usable, not all was lost as the limbs were usable and Phil came away with a decent haul of timber as did Eleanor Lakelin who shared the timber. A quick test on the timber shows the promise of some really nice pieces.
Richard Dickson has been out adding a little life back to some treasured wooden bowls which were looking a little tired. Richard also completed the repairs to the TR6 wheel bearings with some helicoil inserts being used...now if only the leak(s) could be stopped, and then of course there's .......
