The cold weather doesn't seem to holding people back too much. All sorts of work and projects are ongoing, we had updates on dog training, shed updates, open mic evenings and of course a number of us even had time for some woodturning...whatever next!! Read on for more:

Andrew Hall is keeping up the exercise despite the cold weather. Out in the snow and frost with Indy (sporting her new coat) and of course the new kid in town - Sonny. More updates to follow this one !! We also got a couple of videos, one from an open mic evening featuring a local Northumbrian Piper.

Burnsy: WoodturningBurnsy managed to get the major task done this week with a little help from a neighbour. The new flue and flashing are now fitted and, so far, the flashing seems to be keeping the weather out. Fingers crossed it keeps up the good work !!

Graham Brooks: WoodturningGraham Brooks sent in some photos of some recent turned work including a three pointed lidded bowl with different finial/handle options to seek some views on the designs. Naturally there were plenty of opinions and views but in the end it seems that everyone decided that it was mostly a matter of personal preference and the choice of the maker/designer. We also got a look at a winged bowl..all work was, as usual, very nice indeed !!

Kevin Purdy: WoodturningKevin Purdy sent in some photos of a couple of recent pieces of work. First was a set of napkin rings with added colour/texture in a turned wooden box - these were made for a club competition at his local club. Second we got a square platter which has been textured and has a lovely bit of botanical artwork added to the top. As always superb work, well done !!

Paul Howard: WoodturningPaul Howard sent over a few photos of a most unusual pen. The top of the pen takes the form of a woodturning chuck, the clip is in the shape of a roughing gouge. Lots of interest in this one from the group but the kit doesn't seem to be available in the UK yet...though that could change !!

Patrick Lindsay: WoodturningPatrick Lindsay has been hard at work producing more candlesticks, adding some natural edge touches to a few of them such as the one shown here. Of course no week would be complete without a splash of colour and the Orchid this week did not disappoint!!

Phil Irons: WoodturningPhil Irons has been doing a bit of teaching and, as we can see, left a message for his student on one of the pieces they completed !! We also got a look at an earlier piece as it approaches completion, very nice as always!!
