Well, an exciting week for many of us with a Red weather warning in force for a large number of folks. We all seem to have survived the worst of it with relatively little damage and we had some great work on show and some progress with other projects despite the weather. Read on for more:

Andrew Hall WoodturningAndrew Hall has been up on the roof doing some essential repairs following the storm. A few tiles had come adrift, thankfully they missed the skylights on their way down to the ground so, all in all, not a great deal to tidy up. Andrew has also been getting back to some fly tying in preparation for heading back to the fishing club later in the year.

Burnsy: WoodturningBurnsy took delivery of a roof brace kit for the workshop flue, this was installed immediately due to the oncoming storm - both flue and flashing seem to have done the job very well. Inside the workshop things are progressing, the extraction fan has been fitted, the printers are now housed on their shelves...feels like progress for the first time in a while!! The delivery van paid a visit and dropped off the upgrade kit for the Maslow CNC so that can now be assembled and (hopefully) put to work in the not too distant future. Some 3d printing was also completed and, of course, the storm took out the electricity supply and blew down one or two trees...an eventful week.

Jim Briggs: WoodturningJim Briggs sent in some photos of a turned trophy he has made, very nice indeed. We also got a look at a photo of the wild fires in Los Angeles sent over by Jim's son who lives and works there...very scary indeed.

John Brown: WoodturningJohn Brown sent in some photos (and a video) of a Laburnum multi stem crotch to some opinions on how to tackle it as a turning project so he could make best use out of the figured timber contained within it. As always plenty of suggestions and ideas came forwards, hope to see the results in the near future !!

Len Shield: WoodturningLen Shield sent over a few photos of a recently completed project which grabbed everyones attention. As always a very creative and fun project from Len which was very well received by everyone...I can see a few of these coming out of workshops in the not too distant future!!

Phil Irons: WoodturningPhil Irons sent over a photo of a piece of work which has recently come back from the framers - a print taken from a post which had snapped off. The post held up the village post box, the frame also includes the piece of post printed plus an included nail! We also got a video of the gallery which Phil exhibits in and all of the work from the other exhibiting artists.
