As always we had a mixed bag of updates, news, new work and, of course, Orchids this week. Lots of plans and discussions going on, looks like folks are starting to return to the workshop and in some cases planning a whole new workshop!! Read on for more:
Andrew Hall is continuing the work with his part-time charge, he's even been given a book on Gundog training !! We also got a look at a recent fishing trip and a nice looking Trout - catch and release of course.
Burnsy is continuing with workshop organisation and now has gotten some control over the Shaper Origin system components by repurposing an old coat rack to get things mounted on the wall. Now we know where everything is life is so much simpler....let's see how long that lasts!! We also got a look at a couple of 1970's ugly mugs as a follow up to Richards photos of a ceramic piece from the same factory last week.
Gary Lowe sent over a couple of photos, one of a display of his work set up for a recent demonstration at Northumbrian Woodturners. The second photo was of an Orchid literally covered in flowers - identified as a Dendrobium by our resident expert Patrick.
Kevin Purdy sent in a couple of photos, one from the recent demonstration at Northumbrian Woodturners by Gary Lowe where Kevin seems to be interested in something at the back of the room. The second of a piece of signage which seemed a little redundant....
Len Shield sent in some photos of a clock he has made. The clock is in the form of a wristwatch and Len has made use of his turning, carving, bandsaw and other skills to produce this really lovely bit of work, well done!!
Patrick Lindsay is still producing candlesticks but is managing to squeeze in some natural edge bowl turning at the same time and we got a look at some blanks which are ready to go. We also got a look at what's in bloom this week in the greenhouse, a welcome splash of colour in the gloom.
Richard Dickson is getting on with things and has produced a plan for his new workshop, it was sent over for comment and produced quite a few suggestions/ideas so we will hopefully see some revised plans in the future. The builder is booked to do the slab and the new building is due shortly after that, once the building is up the real fun can begin!!
