Another busy and very diverse week with a prize winning young turners work on show, updates from an in-person demonstration at a local. club, achery equipment, a report back from an overseas event. Some of us even found some time for woodturning, whatever next! Read on for more:
Burnsy managed to get an urgent task done once the laser had been repaired and aligned correctly, some engraved discs for another club member. A parcel arrived containing an eBay purchase - a left handed recurve bow and some help was given by more experienced archers in the group. Finally this week the traversing carriage was fitted to the RU so it will no longer be causing bruised shins and bad language in the workshop, best of all Wanda is now complete...she almost seems to be smiling!!
Gary Lowe sent over some photos of recent pieces including a couple of coloured and textured lidded boxes. We also got a look at a flask turned on two axes with some texturing added. The technique used was the subject of some discussion and more than one member was reminded of the output of the Troika pottery in Cornwall. Very nice indeed!!
Len Shield sent over some photos of a recent piece of his...it is of course "fork handles" or is it "four candles"...for those of us who have no clue what is going on you need to watch the video on this link.
Len Shield also sent in some photos of his grand daughter Martha Manning. Martha won the young turners category in the Mark Baker awards this year...and rightly so!! Fantastic work, well done and congratulations from everyone!!
Phil Irons sent over some photos of his recent trip to demonstrate at a symposium in the US. Seems like everyone had a good time and we got some good video footage of the gallery of work at the show, lots of ideas and inspiration !!
