Lots of work going on, home improvements, furniture renovation, technological aids being made, emerging artists, there was even some woodturning and of course the odd Orchid or two. What a busy lot we are !! Read on for more:
Andrew Hall completed a couple of bowls with the addition of the engraved discs, the FAC stands for Frosterley Angling Club - the bowls are to be used as trophies at the club. Andrew also gave us some feed back on a finish he has been using called Odies Oil - several other members have used it and the general consensus seems to be that it is very good but quite expensive.
Burnsy completed a small project for use around the house/workshop, a passive phone speaker. The hearing is not quite what it was so something to boost the volume a little is going to come in handy!! It is made from plywood, has an amplification chamber and a slot for the phone, no batteries or other power required, an easy single sheet project (one 600mm x 400mm sheet of 6mm ply and some 5mm dowel) on the laser cutter or scroll saw.
Len Shield sent over some photos of work from his other grand daughter, Grace. It seems Grace also has considerable creative skills - what a talented bunch!! We also got a look at Len's latest creation - a goblet with an off-centre turned stem...very nice indeed !!
Martin Stacey has been hard at work as always. We got a look at two projects completed around the house, a shoe storage drawer fitted into the small unused space beneath the staircase, a renovated writing desk for his daughter and a piece of turning as a gift for a relative. Most of us were exhausted just looking at the work, well done Martin!!
Patrick Lindsay is enjoying the warmer weather and is back in the workshop, the natural edge bowls in progress show that he's in no danger of slowing down!! We also got a look at more candlesticks and of course we got our normal blast of colour from the Orchids currently in bloom !!
