All sorts of stuff this week, some fairly advanced techniques for achieving some more difficult shapes and patterns, new lathes, a report back from Turnfest in Australia, new rooves, new workshops, new fences and of course we did manage some turning as well. Read on for more:
Allan Joicey sent in a selection of photos showing some of the options for using different approaches to cutting on the lathe using overhead cutting, rose engines and a whole lot more. We also got a look at some of the pewter work Allan has done. Very thought provoking !!
Burnsy sent in some photos of a couple of 3d printed dog whistles which featured a model of a Labrador's head. The model of the head was enlarged and altered to make a headpiece for a walking stick - more to follow on this one!! A short video was made of the items being printed. All items were despatched to Andrew Hall, more to follow on that one hopefully. The Sorby texturing and spiralling tool was unearthed and some tests were done to see how much could be remembered about how to use it...seems to be working.
Gary Lowe sent over a set of photos from his recent trip to Australia. Gary was one of the demonstrators at TurnFest and it looks like everyone had a great time and the work on display was (as always) first class. Nice one !!
Julian Cleak sent in some photos from his trip to Yandles for their "Masters of the lathe" event. It seems like the day was a success, the real star of the show was of course Lola....but some tall Australian bloke kept on getting in the photos....
Kevin Purdy sent in some photos of his relaxing holiday from work...putting up a new fence in the back garden...I think we may need to review the concept of relaxing holiday at some point!!!
Len Shield had a very exciting week with the delivery of a large and heavy crate from Record Power. Len and his granddaughter were very happy to receive their new lathe, a Coronet Regent, from Record Power this week. The lathe is now assembled and in place, can't wait to see what is going to be produced from this new machine !!
Martin Stacey had a challenging week with the planned hydro dipping of his goblet for a club challenge not going quite as planned. However, Martin was undeterred and as always came up with a creative solution to the challenge. Well done as always !!
Phil Irons sent over some photos of the now completed roof, that should be all good for the next 25 years or so now...so Phil isn't expecting to need to worry about the replacement at any point!!
Richard Dickson sent over some photos of the now completed new workshop building. The final roofing materials will be added shortly, the electrician is scheduled in and then the equipment can be put in place...then it's back to weekly homework to be handed in for Monday evening marking !!
Robert Lyons sent over some photos of a rather nice oval form which has been textured/carved and painted white. Very nice indeed !!

As always we had several contributions from others so, if you showed something, then please do send over some photos you can do it from your mobile phone.... it's not that hard, just ask a teenager for help!!
DON'T FORGET: YOU SHOULD SEND OVER YOUR PHOTOS/VIDEOS FOR MONDAY EVENING RIGHT AWAY FOLKS!!
