Another packed evening with lots of work on show and lots of ongoing projects being discussed. A pupdate on the progress of Roman as he continues his training, a piece that is causing some head scratching, a revisit to some older work and, of course, some orchids. All in all a busy week with three lathes for sale. Read on for more:
Andrew Hall sent in another PupDate with photos and videos showing Romans progress and some of the training aids which have been made to help with the ongoing training. Excellent progress all round, more to follow !! Andrew also sent in some photos of a Nova DVR long bed lathe for sale by Ash Howard, the asking price is £1000 and anyone interested should get in touch with Andrew in the first instance.
Burnsy has been working on items for an upcoming exhibition. Translating the pencil sketches to a real object can be a little tricky at times as with one piece which has an aperture the design calls for a slot to be machined around the aperture to allow the insertion of some fused glass. This one is causing some head scratching !! Burnsy also raised the issue of a Wadkin RU 15 which is up for sale, it is located way up North. Asking price is £1500 get in touch for details if you feel like ruining your life.
Graham Brooks has been busy out in the workshop and sent in some photos of a natural edge bowl made from a piece of Laburnum (plus a few woodworms). We also got a look at a bowl with a bit of texture and some of the Chameleon powder from Emma Cook. Very nice !!
John Brown sent in a photo of an experimental piece he had made based on a demonstraton at a local woodturning club. Interesting idea!!
Malcolm Ferguson sent over a couple of photos from a club demonstration at the weekend by Gary Lowe, as always the demo was superb and a good time was had by all - well done Gary! Malcolm also sent over a photo of a lathe for sale, a Vicmarc VL100 asking price is £500, contact Malcolm in the first instance.
Patrick Lindsay sent over some photos of previous projects as he hasn't managed to get back out to the workshop as yet (we are sure it won't be long now though!!). We also got some photos of the latest blooms from the greenhouse...very colourful!!
Phil Irons sent over some photos of the Robinia piece he had been working on which is now almost complete. The hollowing on this one was a case of pallet wrap and slow but steady. No handles were bent in the making of this piece !!
