Quieter session last week with several regulars MIA either on holiday, attending club meetings or demonstrating...which is good because they can send in photos from the demos (see what I did there Steve!!). Still a busy evening with all sorts of updates, a flock of seagulls, a penguin disguised as a chicken, orchids in bloom and a whole lot more. Read on for more:
Burnsy got a somewhat odd request in for some 3d printed seagulls based on cartoon characters and produced not one but a flock of seagulls, strange but in the photos there seems to be a chicken...or is it a penguin??? We also got a look at the computer set up for the AAW virtual symposium, a new piece of CNC router control software called MillMage (from the lovely folks at Lightburn) and a traffic jam....Borgue style!!
Davey Irons got a bit more than he bargained for on a one of those "simple jobs"...really easy, just a simple window to replace. Out came the old window, then the cill which had rotted away at which point in time the stone started to come out due to the cement mortar that had been used to cover the original lime so that all needed to be sorted out. Yep, a simple little job...we've all had them!!
Martin Stacey has been out doing more work on the back garden renovation work including a bin store with hands free opening of the bin lids. Martin has also seen the arrival of some wildlife in the shape of a frog which seems to have taken up residence...wildlife pond required!! Renovations will continue shortly with the arrival of some new decking boards...
Mike Wilson sent in some photos of a piece of sculptural work featuring turnings that he spotted in Coutts (the bank). The work is by a Scottish artist called Doug Cocker, nobody seems to know that much about him but we did manage to locate a bit of information here.
We assume that Mike had popped into Coutts for a chat.....as a valued customer you understand.....
Patrick Lindsay is still building up his strength but is now back at the lathe and sent over some photos of a batch of candlesticks he had been making from Lilac that his tree surgeon friend had dropped in. We also got a look at the latest blooms, very nice show!!
Phil Irons sent over some photos of the urn made for Nick Agar and we also got some photos from Nick's funeral showing the tributes from his woodturning friends worldwide.
