A whole range of things going on this week, we got our "Pupdate" with Roman visiting the beach and making new friends. We had new design work, spaniel heads, softwood turning, timber variations based on climate seemed to be a hot topic (see what I did there!!) and one of our number had a bit of an issue with the dreaded worm....Read on for more:
Andrew Hall sent over a pupdate showing Roman on a trip to the beach and making friends with a couple of other dogs. Roman also seems to be asserting himself at home by taking Indy for a walk. Indy remains unimpressed !!!
Arun has been busy doing tree work, we got some photos of him giving a conifer hedge a bit of a haircut...that's him up the tree!
Burnsy had a number of plates spinning this week (no change then!!). We had a look at some 3d printed vases, a new lampshade design was completed, a commission for some hollow forms has been started. A local farmer has cleared a stand of diseased Ash which is now standing roadside, looks like some Ash pieces are likely. Some laser offcuts were assembled into a "Borgue Old Spot" ...far too much fun being had in that workshop!!
Gary Lowe sent over some photos of a couple of pieces, one made from some softwood (CLS - Canadian Lumber System). A really nice little box was produced from what would normally be totally ignored by woodturners...Sharp tools and accurate turning produced a very nice finish and a lovely little box with finial. Very nice indeed.
John Brown sent over a couple of photos showing the difference between some native fast grown timber and imported timber from the colder climates of Scandinavia. So we can look forward to more of the fast grown stuff in future as things continue to warm up!!
Kevin Purdy sent over some photos of a lovely hollow form which was decorated with elm leaves and some colour/texture. We also got a look at a very nice small box.
Phil Irons sent over a few images to demonstrate what happens when the dreaded worm takes hold in some of your part turned works...spray them, freeze them or microwave them folks....
