Another week with all kinds of things going on in workshops. We had visits to castles, high tech tracings, lots of Christmas crafts (keeping Jim happy), boxes in the shape of pears, flowers from the greenhouse and a rather spectacular piece of hybrid CNC/turning which caused a lot of interest. Read on for more:
Andrew Hall sent over some photos of a recent outing to Witton Castle and of course Indy and Roman also went along...more photos to keep Jim going!!
Burnsy has been out making a start on the new router sled. A router base is needed to attach the router, this requires holes to be cut in the correct places...a job for Shaper Trace. The existing base was taken off, the outline was drawn on a piece of paper and the photo taken...as if by magic a dimensionally accurate svg file was produced and a base could then be laser cut. Another little step forwards !!
Len Shield sent over a photo of his wife's Christmas creations...just to keep our resident Grinch (Jim) happy !! Really lovely work.
Mike Wilson sent in an image of a piece he had made from a Grass Tree Root. Interesting to turn but released a huge amount of dust into the workshop...maybe not one to repeat anytime soon!!
Neil Farnham sent in some images of his latest hybrid piece, Neil uses a combination of turning plus CNC routing. A wide rim bowl with some relief carving of an oriental style dragon which Neil has coloured to add impact - some debate as to whether it was better with or without the colour. Whichever you prefer it is a pretty stunning piece of work.
Patrick Lindsay sent in a group of images showing the work in progress - natural edge bowls in a variety of timbers. We also got a look at some completed boxes in the shape of pears plus a burst of colour from the greenhouse. Very nice!!
Richard Dickson sent in some images of recently completed pieces including a couple of Christmas Trees...especially for Jim !!
