Right then, last one before the big day. Seems like there's lots of work still going on in the workshops. We had some AI generated images, we got a look at some Christmas decorations making their annual reappearance, some prototype puzzles, an early gift unwrapping, a conical bowl, workholding innovations and a preview of some collaborative woodturning and rush weaving. Read on for more:
Andrew Hall sent over some photos of Christmas preparations and some AI generated images he had received from Richard Kennedy. These images were based on photos Andrew had taken of Roman and Indy. We also got a look at some of the turned Christmas decorations making their annual appearance, which may include a certain snowman ......
Burnsy has been out doing some preparation for next season, some new puzzles are being tested out. A parcel arrived from Graham Brooks containing an early and very nice gift...a bowl within a bowl. Very nice indeed !!
Jim Briggs sent over some photos of a recent piece he had completed, a pencil shaped pencil box - based on a piece of work shown by Kevin Purdy some little while ago. We also got a couple of video clips showing Jim's house guest....Roman has some competition then!!
Len Shield sent in some photos of a bowl made from a laminated blank. The piece features an undercut rim and a conical shape so that it sits inclined on the surface..nice work as always!!
Martin Stacey tackled one of those "simple 5 minute jobs" - replacing a broken fan in the van he uses. As you can see from the photos...not quite as simple as you might think but he has managed to get it done!!
Paul Howard following on from last weeks presentation by Allan Joicey. Paul sent in some images of sent over some photos showing his work holding solutions for turning cubes, some of these ideas have now become products on Simon Hope's website...ideal Christmas gifts!! We also got another look at the Phil Irons handle straightening jig...that one never gets old (well for every one but Phil that is!!).
Phil Irons sent over a number of photos of recently completed pieces. One piece stood out from the others, this was a collaborative piece Phil has done with his sister Felicity (search for Rush Matters). The piece is an urn which has been wrapped in woven rush, the results are pretty spectacular!!
