Despite the somewhat cold temperatures it seems that some of us are continuing through the winter undeterred!! We had training aids, UV lights, plates, red Holly, plates and felled Yew plus a whole lot more this week. Read on for more:
Andrew Hall sent over a few photos of a woodturning project completed this week. Making use of some paint rollers and dry pasta shapes Andrew has made some training aids for Roman - variable weights are possible using differing amounts of pasta...very handy.
Burnsy continued this week with testing exposures on Cyanotypes with the UV exposure box. The initial tests with the 100W lights proved to be too powerful with only very short exposure times being required. Two 10W lights have been substituted for the original single light and the exposures are now taking longer which gives more control in a purely manual process.
Gary Lowe is continuing to make use of a batch of small blanks purchased at Harrogate and we got a look at another beautiful square plate with a coloured and textured band. Very nice!!
Malcolm Ferguson sent over some photos showing a whole range of equipment for sale in his local area. The lots include a large panel saw, pillar drill, lathe and other assorted tools - anyone wanting to know more should contact Malcolm directly. We also got a look at some lace bobbins that Malcolm had been turning for someone.
Patrick Lindsay sent in some photos of recent pieces that he has managed to get working on despite the somewhat Baltic temperatures in the garage - perhaps time for a heater in the workshop then?? Lovely work as always!!
Phil Irons sent over some photos of an urn completed recently which makes use of some rather spectacular grain and figure. We also got a look at some laser engraving on Stainless steel which shows how spot annealing can be used to create colours...very interesting!!
Richard Dickson sent over some photos of a visit from the tree surgeon removing some dead trees from his garden. The Yew tree in particular will likely give some interesting pieces of work...always remember though that all parts of the plant are in fact toxic and that Yew is a known sensitizer...be careful!!
Videos Submitted This Week
As always we had several contributions from others so, if you showed something, then please do send over some photos you can do it from your mobile phone.... it's not that hard, just ask a teenager for help!!
DON'T FORGET: YOU SHOULD SEND OVER YOUR PHOTOS/VIDEOS FOR MONDAY EVENING RIGHT AWAY FOLKS!!
