Another very varied week, we had timber stashes being sorted through, ornithology, boat building, computer technology, alternative photographic techniques, cranes, gardening tools for sale and some of us even managed a little bit of woodturning. Whatever next !!! ..... Read on for more:
Andrew Hall sent over some photos of from his continuing "sort out" and this time we got a look at a whole range of timber which had to be sorted through and organised into useful and firewood piles. Some pretty old stock piles of timber, some of this stuff is no longer available for a variety of reasons...all of course in the "around to it" pile now!!
Burnsy showed some updates on the Cyanotype front in the shape of some templates to help with handling the preparation of paper and the layout of compositions to fit within mounts. We also got a look at two computers which are being set up for the AWGB - to livestream their upcoming festival of woodturning!! We also got a look into the glasshouses at Threave gardens...some Orchids for Patrick....
Davey Irons sent in some photos of the boat yard and several boats he is currently working on. We also got a look at a rather special visitor to the yard who hung around long enough for a photo to be taken...they don't normally hang around that long !!!
Kevin Purdy sent over some photos of a box he had made with an inset gear on the lid. The gear had been set in resin, the resin is set by exposure to UV light, this is a first for Kevin and it seems to have worked quite well!! Looking forward to seeing more projects !!
Len Shield sent in some photos of a natural edge bowl with and undercut rim and a mouse which has been commandeered by his granddaughter...well done as always!!
Martin Stacey sent over some photos of a garden power tool he is looking to sell. This tool is cordless, has multiple heads and an extension system to allow for pruning and trimming without the need for balancing on ladders, chairs or the like. Anyone interested please get in touch.
Mike Wilson sent in some photos showing that he is getting back out into the workshop preparing timber for turning and some photos of an order for stacking plates which have been turned out of pitch pine. Very nice!!
Patrick Lindsay sent in some photos of recent work, natural edge bowls and candlesticks. We also got a look at some older pieces turned from some large pieces of African Blackwood and of course we got a look at what's in bloom in the Orchid house...a nice splash of colour!!
Phil Irons sent in a photo from a trip to Edinburgh at the weekend. Out of all of the things Edinburgh has to offer we got a view of a barge with a large crane on it...well done!!
