A varied week again but this week we had quite a few member of the group absent to attend the second last club demonstration of Andrew Hall who, after many years, has decided to retire from professional demonstration work. We still managed a range of topics which included drinking a pint whilst doing a headstand ..... Read on for more:

Burnsy: WoodturningBurnsy took some time to start one of those "around to it" jobs this week. The benchtop CNC router is a noisy and pretty messy beast so, now it is seeing regular use, the time has come to look at taming it a little. An enclosure has been started to try to contain the noise and dust ...more to follow.

Martin Stacey: WoodturningMartin Stacey  sent over a photo of the competition entries at his local club, looks like both Martin and Kevin are facing some tough competition. Well done to everyone!!

Phil Irons: WoodturningPhil Irons  sent in some photos of a batch of Keepsake urns with a bit of a twist. The lids on these ones have been turned into a raised foot and the top has been recessed to receive a tealight/candle - very nice idea. We also got a look at a potential commisson for some napkin rings with laser engraving, very nice idea.

Richard Dickson: WoodturningRichard Dickson sent in some photos of his recent trip to Italy, he didn't want to discuss the Rugby for some reason....One of the photos shows one of Richards party doing a headstand whilst drinking a pint...a responsible, upstanding member of the legal profession...bet that goes down well at Law Society Dinners...

Steve Gordon: WoodturningSteve Gordon sent in his homework photos in a roundabout sort of a way this week, via the Chestnut newsletter. The images show a pill silverer based on an antique piece of work. The idea is that pills/tablets were rolled in precious metal leaf to make them more effective, doubt it worked but it's a nice piece of work at any rate!!
