A Bank Holiday weekend so we were somewhat depleted in number this week but the sesson was very interesting with lots of work being discussed, work being displayed and ideas exchanged. Laser engraving, pyrography, landscape photography, bowls, hollow forms, novel ideas and a whole lot more being discussed. Oh and Jim was put out of his puzzle misery!! Read on for more:
Burnsy took advantage of the decent weather to do some scouting trips for photos (useful when your camera bag is in fact an 80 litre rucsack) by heading up both Miekle Ross and the Mull of Ross. Some engraved cutting boards were produced from natural edge slabs, a rescue operation commenced on a hollow form which had spent too much time on a radiator shelf and the solution to the puzzle shown last time was presented...Jim was relieved....
Graham Brooks sent over some photos of a couple of pieces completed. A lovely figured piece of timber made into a bowl and a highly figured piece of timber made into an open form with carved feet..very nice indeed!!
Kevin Purdy sent in some photos of a couple of cheese boards he had made and decorated with pyrography. Each board was accompanied by a cheese knife with a turned handle...lovely gifts for some lucky people.
Len Shield sent over some photos of a couple of pieces completed recently. A lidded vessel with a really interesting design idea on the lid, looks and feels oriental somehow. We also got a look at a really great idea for a variation on a bud vase, a turned lid for a glass which means you get a bud vase that holds water...really great idea and as always very creative work from Len.
