Lots of activity and people busy after the Bank Holiday break, we had a busy evening! We had missing puzzle pieces, vortex fires, trailer repairs, wardrobe building, re-used printing blocks and someone who will definitely not be on their neighbours Christmas (Sorry Jim) card list. Read on for more:
Andrew Hall took time out from his hectic schedule to send in photos showing a little of what he has been doing. We got a look at some urgent trailer repair work to replace a jockey wheel on his trailer. We also got a look at some decorative outdoor turning and a table top vortex fire pit which has feet that stay cool to avoid scorch marks. We also got a video Pupdate...Jim was delighted!!
Burnsy continued with the varied workload: stitching splits in a hollow form, replacing stolen puzzle parts, testing out new puzzles, engraving slate house signs, a smoking lion statue and a whole lot more going on. He even found time to squeeze in some woodturning...whatever next!!
Malcolm Ferguson spotted some workshops which could be of interest to some group members. The workshops were hosted at the Rheghed centre near Penrith, the dates for the workshops had passed but it will be useful to keep on eye on their programme of events as they seem to be running quite a few workshops and the venue is pretty easy to get to...for those of us North of Birmingham....
Martin Stacey sent in some photos of his latest project - fitted cupboards. Martin built everything from scratch to solve a load of storage problems and it now looks like he has some additional requests for similar projects. All just goes to show the old proverb is true: "No good deed ever goes unpunished" !!! Well done Martin lovely job as always.
Mike Wilson sent over a photo of a piece of work made by an ex student. It's an articulated pull along toy in the shape of a Dachshund but if you take a look at the front legs and ears you will see that it moves along with bouncing ears. Lovely job!!
Phil Irons has been re-purposing some old print making blocks by adding a test tube and some of the Chestnut rainbow waxes to create some really nice bud vases/weed pots. We also got a few photos from the recent event at Daventry, seems like everyone had a good day out!!
Steve Gordon is currently engaged in building a new workshop space but needed to prepare materials (50 bowl blanks) using the bandsaw so opted for a temporary cover so he could work in the back garden...needless to say Steve won't be receiving Christmas cards from his neighbours this year!! Looking forward to the photos of the build of the new workshop space .... see what I did there???
