Lots of turning this week plus dodgy Cole jaws, natural edge pieces, Calabash bowls, garden renovation work, workshop re-organisations and a somewhat unusual recovery vehicle for a classic car owner!! Read on for more:
Burnsy completed the bowl shown last week and in the process discovered something odd about a set of Cole jaws which don't appear to be round but it seems that the rubber buffers take up the slack. Jim was presented with another puzzle, a lesson was learned about leaving things in the workshop when almost finished and some really large poppy flowers appeared in the garden. Yet another varied week.
Davey Irons did a "take your son to work day" of his own and Douglas was let loose on the lathe...seems like he's got the hang of it with a lovely bowl being produced. Another woodturner in the family then .....
Gary Lowe has been putting the new lathe to use and sent over some photos of pieces completed including some burr bowls and a novelty bird with copper legs and a tuft of hair...looks like the bird from the animated film Up. Very nice indeed.
Kevin Purdy sent over some photos of a recently completed hollow form with a lid, the lid has a handle made from antler and horn. Really nice piece of work, splendid !!
Martin Stacey has been busy as always, this time some renovation works in the back garden to replace an old decking area. Splendid job!! Then the dreaded workshop tidy up had to be done...very well organised...lets see how long it lasts!!
Patrick Lindsay continues to put us all to shame with the workload of ongoing natural edge pieces coming out of his workshop and the blooms in the garden .... no idea where he gets the energy from !!
Phil Irons sent over some shots of work in progress with some tribal style pyrography work on a hollow form, shaping up well can't wait to see the finished result!!
Richard Dickson sent over some photos of the Triumph now working and out for a spin. We also got a look at Richards recovery vehicle which is self powered...not sure where/how you attach the tow rope to the Triumph from a bicycle ????
