All kinds of things going on this week, Virtual Symposiums, puncture repairs, router jigs, joinery, website updates, getting a head start on Christmas and some woodturning thrown in for good measure .... you can tell the weather has gotten better. Read on for more:

Burnsy: WoodturningBurnsy spent a fair part of the week this week in a darkened room packed with computers helping to deliver the Virtual element of the AAW symposium from Raleigh in North Carolina...no travelling involved !! The streaming was managed largely without incident, it kind of looks like we have cracked it...great team effort. You can still purchase a ticket for access to the recordings....just saying....

Gary Lowe: WoodturningGary Lowe sent over a photo of a rather lovely natural edge bowl. The piece was much admired and rightly so, lovely piece of work as always.

Graham Brooks: WoodturningGraham Brooks sent over some photos a very nice piece of work. The Escoulen chuck was given an outing for this one which has three small bowls inset into a larger one forming a clover leaf type pattern. Really nice work and nice to see the chuck in action!!

John Brown (Penn): WoodturningJohn Brown (Penn) sent over a photo of a Christmas decoration he'd made which makes use of thumb tacks (drawing pins) with coloured heads as decoration. Simple but clever idea and really effective. Good to get a head start on the Christmas rush.

Julian Cleak: WoodturningJulian Cleak sent over a whole set of photos showing a recently completed project to make a planter, and a very nice job it is too!! It was nice to see Julian using the Woodrat router jig which has been brought back onto the market recently. Really great project.

Kevin Purdy: WoodturningKevin Purdy  sent over some photos of a couple of recently completed projects. A chip and dip bowl was the first and the second was a novetly piece in the shape of a bird which had been turned off centre. Very nice as always.

Len Shield: WoodturningLen Shield  sent over some photos of some recent pieces including a bird, two hippo's and a bit of miniature turning as part of a bigger project. Very innovative, the hippo's especially caught a lot of attention.

Martin Stacey: WoodturningMartin Stacey  has been getting on with the garden renovations, getting out there while the weather is agreeable. The wheelbarrow proved to be unco-operative and developed a puncture so Martin went back to his youth and dug out the bicycle puncture repair kit to solve the problem....just so we are clear .....no spoons were bent during the repair of this puncture.

Phil Irons: WoodturningPhil Irons  sent over a photo of his new IT assistant helping out with updating his website....that explains a lot.....

Steve Gordon: WoodturningSteve Gordon  sent over some photos of a box of goodies he had acquired from the workshop of the late Ray Key. These are part completed works and show the evolution of some of the shapes that Ray developed which are now seen regularly in the work of a range of other turners. Very interesting.
