Another busy evening with lots of things to talk about. We had a wide range from beating on a local shoot, essential safety signage for the workshop, clocks, multi-axis turning, a new member of the Stubby owners club, natural edge bowls galore and lovely splash of colour..... Read on for more:
Andrew Hall sent over some photos from his trip out beating for a local shoot. This was Roman's first trip out of this type and the training has definitely worked as Roman behaved impeccably. Andrew and Roman both discovered just how much walking is involved in the job and both were tired out at the end of a hard day!!
Burnsy sent in some photos showing some clocks ready to receive their mechanisms and (at last) a working door on the CNC enclosure. We also got a look at an essential safety sign for the workshop...always safety conscious...not sure if the sign is fully compliant though???
Graham Brooks sent over some photos of some multi-axis pieces. The first two were candlesticks, the others were of some trinket boxes which had been stained and treat with wax - these created a lot of interest!
Kevin Purdy sent over some photos of a first attempt at multi-axis work after seeing the pieces by Graham Brooks. A discussion on the "how to" of multi-axis work ensued and we should hopefully see some more detailed photos of the process in the not too distant future.
Martin Dickinson sent over some photos of his recently acquired Stubby S750 which came with its original stand and all of the extras. The lathe needed a bit of a tidy up when he got it so Martin set to, stripping the lathe back and repainting it, replacing a broken switch and finally adding a few custom touches. Welcome to the SOC!!
Patrick Lindsay yet again put all of us to shame with the workload he has managed to get through this week. A trailer of logs which arrived as firewood has ended up getting converted into bowl blanks and quite a few of those have been rough turned into natural edge bowls which are now drying and will be finished once dry. Its exhausting just thinking about it. Well done Patrick!!
