Well, this one seems to have been a good old mixture of things going on, we had a visit to the "Mouseman" trail, a classic British sports car that almost made it home, some gavels, a few pointers and cautions on laser engraving, goblets with captive rings and some rather cute new arrivals...... Read on for more:

Andrew Hall: WoodturningAndrew Hall sent over some photos from a recent trip out onto the "Mouseman" trail, a visit to some local sites revealed some of the amazing work by Robert Thompson in a church. We also got a look at an urn that was handmade by a potter for the ashes of Indy.

Gary Lowe: WoodturningGary Lowe sent over a couple of photos he managed to take out in the car park of the AWGB's festival of woodturning. Seems like someone managed to get their car to the event....however it didn't quite make it home without an incident!!

Jim Briggs: WoodturningJim Briggs sent over some photos of a turned clay pigeon he'd made for his local shooting club as a wall decoration. We also got a look at a gavel he was working on with a request for some help on laser engraving onto the shiny brass surface. The answer was to colour in the surface with a Sharpie or similar marker pen before you engrave to make the surface matt. You could also use decorators tape, this gave rise to some warnings about lasers and vinyls/plastics and off-gassing of Chlorine...be careful folks this stuff is dangerous !!

Martin Stacey: WoodturningMartin Stacey sent over some photos of a recent club competition he had entered, the subject was a goblet with captive rings from a piece of timber supplied by the club. However, this was overshadowed by the arrival in the house of a whole bunch of new arrivals...very cute indeed!!

Phil Irons: WoodturningPhil Irons sent over a couple of photos, one showing the goodie bag he was sent for helping out with the judging on the New Zealand association annual competition, the other shows some fat bald bloke in loud braces...no idea what's going on there!!

Richard Dickson: WoodturningRichard Dickson sent over a couple of photos of a completed gavel and block in response to Jim's work in progress. Let's hope Jim remembers to send over some photos of the completed and engraved item!!
